This ratio is all about the perfect fifth interval in music, which can be expressed as 2:3 or 3:2. The ratio 3:2 can be expressed as 3/2 = 1.5, the generator used to build a scale by stacking fifths. But the ratio also suggests a tension between two concepts: duality and trinity, a dichotomy and resolution… thesis, antithesis, and synthesis.
How does this concept apply to economics? There’s an economic duality known as supply : demand. But today, our economy has distorted this duality into demand : exchange. This duality fully defines the concept of debt. In The Next Octave: a Sustainable Economy Encoded in Music, we discuss how to shift the economy from its current debt-based nature into triune synthesis.
